The New Myers is Epical HealthMed’s modernised take on the classic Myers’ Cocktail—one of the most studied and widely used IV nutritional formulas in integrative medicine. Our updated version retains the foundational blend of magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, and vitamin C while adding glutathione and amino acids to enhance detoxification, energy, and overall cellular resilience. It remains the most versatile IV therapy we offer, benefiting a broad range of patients from those with chronic fatigue and migraines to general wellness seekers.

How long is a session? 45–60 minutes. Can be given weekly for therapeutic conditions or monthly for maintenance.
The original Myers' Cocktail: a proven foundation
Developed in the 1970s by Dr. John Myers and later popularised by Alan Gaby, MD, the Myers’ Cocktail has been used in thousands of patients and studied for conditions including chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, depression, cardiovascular disease, and acute respiratory infections. Its core principle—that supplementing micronutrients intravenously can correct deficiencies and produce therapeutic effects beyond oral replacement—is now supported by a substantial body of clinical evidence.
Conditions that respond to New Myers
- Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME-CFS: B12, magnesium, and amino acids address the mitochondrial and autonomic components of post-viral and complex fatigue
- Migraines: magnesium deficiency is documented in migraine patients; IV magnesium has been shown in RCTs to reduce migraine severity and frequency
- Fibromyalgia: widespread pain and sleep dysfunction respond to magnesium and B-complex replenishment
- Depression and mood disorders: B12, folate (B9), and magnesium are essential for neurotransmitter synthesis; deficiency is common in depressed patients
- General wellness and anti-aging: glutathione and vitamin C together are a powerful anti-aging combination supporting skin, liver, and immune function

Clinical and observational data supports New Myers for:
What to expect at Epical HealthMed
Magnesium (500–1000mg)
relaxes smooth and skeletal muscle (key for migraine and spasm relief), supports sleep, and is a cofactor in 300+ enzymatic reactions
Calcium gluconate
supports neuromuscular function and complements magnesium's role in cardiac and skeletal muscle regulation
B-Complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6)
complete set of energy metabolism cofactors
Vitamin B12 (1000mcg)
neurological support, red blood cell formation, and mood regulation
Vitamin C (5–10g)
antioxidant, adrenal support, collagen synthesis, immune priming
Frequency and protocol
For acute therapeutic conditions (migraine, fatigue flare): weekly sessions for 4–6 weeks, then reassess. For chronic conditions: bi-weekly initially, transitioning to monthly maintenance. For general wellness: monthly.
Immunity tagging, notes, and repeat-booking support
Immunity pages are more useful when patients can see the difference between prevention, recovery support, and higher-intensity care without having to guess.
Educational content only. This page does not replace individualized medical advice. Always consult your clinician for diagnosis and treatment decisions.
- Immunity booster categorization: separate prevention, general wellness, and active-symptom support clearly on the page
- Health condition tagging: highlight tags such as travel prep, seasonal support, cold and flu recovery, or high-stress periods
- Doctor notes and recommendations: reserve space for clinician guidance on timing, fit, and precautions
- Repeat booking option: make it easy for patients to schedule recurring immune-support visits when clinically appropriate
Frequency and protocol
For acute therapeutic conditions (migraine, fatigue flare): weekly sessions for 4–6 weeks, then reassess. For chronic conditions: bi-weekly initially, transitioning to monthly maintenance. For general wellness: monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there clinical evidence for the Myers' Cocktail?
Yes. A 2009 pilot RCT by Massey et al. published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed statistically significant improvement in fibromyalgia patients receiving Myers’ Cocktail versus placebo. Multiple observational studies and case series support its use in chronic fatigue, migraines, and mood disorders. While large-scale RCTs are still limited, the evidence base is stronger than for most IV wellness therapies.
Can New Myers help with long COVID fatigue?
Post-COVID fatigue (long COVID) shares features with ME-CFS, including mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and micronutrient depletion. Several integrative medicine centres are using Myers’-based protocols for long COVID with positive observational outcomes. We offer this as part of a broader long COVID recovery plan.
Is the magnesium in New Myers enough to stop a migraine?
IV magnesium at doses of 500–1000mg has been shown to abort acute migraines in approximately 50% of patients, particularly those with aura or low serum magnesium. It is most effective when given at the onset of migraine. For chronic migraine prevention, regular monthly sessions reduce frequency over time.
What does glutathione add to the New Myers formula?
Glutathione supports Phase II liver detoxification—the pathway that neutralises toxins, heavy metals, and medication metabolites. It also reduces oxidative stress in tissues and is associated with brighter, more even skin tone. Adding glutathione turns the New Myers into a detox-plus-energy infusion.
Can I get New Myers if I take prescription medications?
Most medications are compatible with Myers’ Cocktail. Notable exceptions to review with your clinician: anticoagulants (vitamin K interaction), digoxin (magnesium interaction), and certain chemotherapy agents. Always disclose all medications during your intake.
Does New Myers help with anxiety?
Magnesium is one of the most evidence-supported nutrients for reducing anxiety—it modulates GABA receptors and reduces HPA axis reactivity. B6 and B12 are essential for serotonin and GABA synthesis. Many patients report noticeably reduced anxiety and improved sleep quality after a series of New Myers infusions.
Is it painful?
IV insertion involves a brief pinch. Once in place, the infusion is generally comfortable. Magnesium can cause a warm, flushing sensation that is normal and harmless. If infused too quickly, patients may feel warmth in the chest—we adjust the infusion rate to keep the experience comfortable throughout.
How long before I feel results?
Some effects (energy, migraine relief) may be felt during or immediately after the session. Others (mood, sleep quality, fatigue reduction) often develop over 24–72 hours as cellular processes normalise. Cumulative improvement typically builds over 3–4 sessions.
