The BasicsProfessional, homemade, black or multi-colored tattoos can be removed after a series of treatment sessions. Ink may be at different levels of tissue below your skin, certain colors, such as reds and yellows, may be more resistant to removal. Your skin color can affect the ease of removal. Darker skin absorbs more energy, makes removal more difficult, and can increase the risk of injury.
-
The procedureLaser treatment is well known and used to remove tattoo, the procedures are well tolerated and can frequently result in complete elimination of the tattoo without residual scarring or discoloration. The number of treatments needed depends on the size of the tattoo, the colors used, and your skin type. Large tattoos can take 10 sessions or more. The time between treatments will depend on your skin color and the speed at which your skin heals.
-
Post-procedureThe healing takes place within the first 72 hours, but it can take up to one to two weeks to heal completely after your first treatment and then it takes less time with each session. Some patients may experience bruising or swelling after the treatment. There is immediate whitening of the treated area, which usually lasts for several minutes. Some patients develop blisters, crusts, or scabs within 8 to 72 hours, which may last for 1 to 2 weeks or more.
-
ResultsThis lower success rate is most likely related to smoking's direct effects on wound healing. Skin Color: Tattoo removal is more effective for individuals with lighter skin (specifically Fitzpatrick type 1 or 2 skin types). Amount of Ink: The amount of ink used is another parameter that affects laser tattoo removal.
-
FactsMost people, tend to think that laser tattoo removal is less painful than getting an actual tattoo. The feeling is very similar to having a rubber band snapped against your skin. And some people say it feels more like a rapid succession of tiny pricks, or someone scratching a really bad sunburn.
